Endometrial cancer also referred to
as cancer of the Uterus is one of
the most common forms of
gynecological cancers to strike
women. It occurs in the inner lining
of the uterus (known as the
Endometrium) - the most common form
of cancer of the uterus).
Approximately 6000 women in the US
die each year from this cancer -
from the approximate 37000 who are
diagnosed).
Diagnosis - early signs of this
cancer are asymptomatic (no apparent
signs) although unusual bleeding
from the uterus may occur. Other
signs include painful urination,
pelvic pain and pain during
intercourse. As the disease
continues to develop there may be a
loss of weight and changes in bowel
routines.
Treatment - As with many cancers the
form of treatment depends on the
stage of cancer development. Early
detected cancers are usually treated
with surgery. As the cancer develops
other forms of treatment may be
required; such as radiation, hormone
treatment or chemotherapy.
