Targeted Therapy
Traditional cancer therapy utilizes methods aimed at fast growing cells. For instance, radiation is most effective targeting cells that are diving quickly. The problem is that traditional treatments do not necessarily completely differentiate between healthy and cancerous cells.
Targeted therapy is aimed at treating cancer by interfering with proteins/chemicals that are specifically required by the cancerous cell. If you can effectively interfere with a required chemical, you effectively are able to kill or stop the cancerous cells growth.
